Transcription: When the Israelites left Egypt, they did not take the trade route to the land of the Philistines. The crossing of the sea may have been at the southern extension of Lake Menzala. The map shows alternative routes for the Exodus. The route traditionally identified as the route of the Exodus leads to the southern end of the Sinai Peninsula. More direct possibilities have been proposed. One goes east towards Jabel-Hilal, one of several possible locations for Mount Sinai in this area.
